The entire Black Mountain range, anchored by Mt. Mitchell, the highest peak east of the Rockies, stretches across the horizon from nearly every room. Four decks, a propane fire pit, a stone fireplace, and altitude-cooled air complete the picture. The Blue Ridge Parkway is minutes away.
Sleeping
The listing sleeps up to 5 across two distinct spaces. The open master suite is the centerpiece, with a cathedral pine beam ceiling arching overhead, a corner soaking tub steps from the bed, a dedicated workspace, and doors that open directly onto a private deck with mountain views. Above the main living area, the fairy-light loft is its own world: a double bed with twin trundle tucked under glowing pine beams, navy blue shiplap walls, a game table, and a bean bag for lounging.
Living & Dining
The great room is expansive and warm, with soaring cathedral pine beam ceilings, a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace, a large sectional, and picture windows that frame the Black Mountain range from every angle. A telescope is on hand for daytime ridge-watching and stargazing after dark.
The dining room seats eight at a farmhouse trestle table with sliding glass doors opening to the deck. The full kitchen bar adds four leather counter stools for casual meals and morning coffee.
The knotty pine kitchen is fully equipped with granite countertops, stainless appliances, and a dedicated coffee station with a Cuisinart dual brewer, burr grinder, and electric kettle.
Outdoor Spaces
All four decks are available to you.
The main deck is built for gathering, with a propane fire pit, lounge seating, a six-seat dining table, and a Weber grill, all with unobstructed Black Mountain views.
A covered deck with a green metal pergola and string lights gives you a sheltered outdoor living room for any weather. Additional decks offer a rope hammock, a hanging egg chair, and quieter corners for reading or simply watching the ridge change color through the day.

Other Things to Note
Hurricane Helene
Our area was affected by Hurricane Helene, but the landscape has largely recovered and we’re basically back to normal.
Neighborhood roads and nearly all routes to Burnsville, Spruce Pine, and Marion have been repaired and are open. Restaurants, attractions, and businesses are operating as usual with only a few exceptions.
Portions of the Blue Ridge Parkway remain closed but are scheduled to re-open later this summer. The Mount Mitchell Golf Course is closed for golf play; however, the grounds are still open to guests for walking, dog outings, and fishing.
Grassy Creek Golf Course is open, and Roan Mountain at Carver’s Gap on the Appalachian Trail, along with many other nearby hiking trails, is fully accessible.
